The main destination for your shopping in Rangoon is the Bogyoke - or Scott Market, a real oriental bazaar. Just take a taxi everyone know the place, be aware that at 5 pm sharp almost all shops are closed that means shopping finished.

You can also change some money there, actually you should, its the only place in Rangoon where you can ask a few different shops for the exchange rate so you can figure out the best exchange rate and wont get cheated. But don't listen to the guys who approach you and whisper ..change money... don't do it they just will cheat you.

If you want to buy something tell the shop people the should help you to change. Ask at least 2 shops, now US$ and EURO can be changed, forget all other currency, no one wants them, also credit cards are not taken due to the economic embargo which includes a finance embargo too.
